Inception

Seeing as there has been a bit of chatter about social events, and movie outings, and whatnot, I figured I would put this up and see if anyone was interested.

Inception is a new sci-fi thriller from Christopher Nolan (The Prestige, Memento, The Dark Knight), set within the 'architecture of the mind'. One of the characters is an architectural prodigy, that supposedly designs spaces within a dream state, in other people's heads. Woawh.

From IMDB:

Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

And here's a trailer:

There's some pretty spectacular imagery going on here. Collapsing towers, floating hallways, and cities folding in on themselves. Nolan has a pretty good pedigree, and I think that it's something we would all enjoy.

Comes out August 2 at The Embassy. Tuesdays are $10 tickets. You all thinking what i'm thinking?

  2. 'What's the most resilient parasite? An Idea.'

Been looking forward to this for quite a while now. Really enjoyed Nolan's earlier film Memento, which dealt with memory. Hopefully this will follow a similar vein. Plus Ellen Page... Awesome!

  3. Such an exciting trailer. For extra architecturalness Joseph Gordon Levitt played a love-struck architect in 500 Days of Summer.

Tuesday 3rd or 10th of August?

  5. Oh dear - Leonardo, and some pretty lame dialogue - could be a plonker... But the visuals have seduced me sufficiently...

    I'm in...!

  6. Don't be so quick to judge, m-d. Leo's been in some great movies lately. See Shutter Island if you're not convinced.
